It’s Our Fifth Birthday
It really doesn’t seem like it was five years ago that our local primary schools joined us on the Bond Square steps to create our iconic opening image! But here we are five years on, and we’d like you all to join in our birthday celebrations.
As part of Bracknell Forest Festival, The Lexicon will be holding a special Birthday Proms on Saturday, September 3 2022, featuring a fabulous mix of performers, from the local community and further afield. We will also be giving away birthday badges, tote bags and cupcakes.
The fantastic choirs from Wooden Hill Primary and Birch Hill Primary Schools, along with local singers Sophie Abbot, from Sandhurst School and Tilly Mills from College Town Primary, will kick-off the celebrations at 3.30 pm by performing songs written especially for the five Bracknell Forest Giants.
At 4.10 pm, local favourites Vocalese, will be singing a variety of popular songs, for the audience to join the choir and sing-a-long.
At 5.00 pm, the BARTA Theatre Academy, will showcase the dance, singing and drama talents of students from Wokingham and Bracknell, with a magical performance of songs from some of the nation’s top musicals.
At 5.40 pm, top saxophonist YolanDa Brown, will get everyone’s toes tapping, or maybe even dancing as she plays upbeat tunes accompanied by her band.
At 6.40 pm, the Forest Folk band will take to the stage, performing the Bracknell Forest Festival songs and getting feet a-stomping along the way with gorgeous folk music for all to enjoy.
At 7.20 pm, the show continues with Dexter and The Dimes, a rockin’ and rollin’ 50s band, playing those time defying classics from artists such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Little Richard.
The final act of the Birthday Proms is Reading based indie pop band, Only The Poets, who will begin their set at 8.30 pm. Formed five years ago, the band has recently returned from a sell-out European tour.
And that’s not all from Monday 5 September 2022, we will be giving away five fabulous prizes, kindly donated by Beaverbrooks, Pandora, Marks and Spencer, Wagamama and Primark, on our Facebook page.
Plus announcing the local community groups who have been awarded £5,000 each from The Lexicon Charity Fund.
Please note there will be photographers and/or videographers in town for Bracknell Forest Festival. Images taken will be used by The Lexicon and Bracknell Forest Council for publicity and marketing purposes.
