Live at The Lexicon – Free Music Event

📍 Bond Square (between M&S and Waitrose) | Saturday, 6 September 2025 | 12:00pm – 8:00pm

Join us for a day of unforgettable music, theatre, and family fun as Live at The Lexicon (formerly The Lexicon Proms) returns to Bond Square!

This free, open-air event has something for everyone – just turn up, bring a chair, and enjoy the show!

🎶What to expect:

  • Live performances throughout the day
  • Musical interludes hosted by Sandy Grigelis – actor, singer-songwriter, and frontman of vintage rockers The Boulevards
  • BSL interpretation for many performances, thanks to Specsavers (interpreters will be front-right of the stage)
  • Get a sneak peek of MUSICA, The Lexicon’s brand-new live music venue opening on Eagle Lane in late October.
  • FREE face painting between 2pm and 6pm

    The Boulevards

    Back by popular demand, The Boulevards bring you authentic 50s and 60s rock & roll with style and swagger!
    Their high energy performance will transport you straight to the golden age of jukeboxes and swing.
    BARTA Theatre Academy

    Enjoy an inspiring showcase from the talented young performers of BARTA Theatre Academy, who are trained in
    singing, dance and drama. Their energy and enthusiasm are guaranteed to impress!
    Rae Lewis

    Experience this stunning solo tribute to Florence Welch. Fresh from being inspired by Florence + The Machine’s
    iconic BBC Proms performance, Rae Lewis returns to her hometown with a heartfelt set that channels the passion
    and spirit of this ever popular indie rock band.
    Treasure Box Tales: LIVE!
    2pm
    Perfect for younger audiences, this joyful performance brings the magical world of Danielle Moubarak’s
    children’s poems to life through storytelling and dance. Join Pirate Robin, Magnificent Miss Mouse, The Bedtime
    Dinosaur and their friends on a fun-filled theatrical adventure!
    Sainsbury Singers

    This much-loved musical theatre group has been entertaining audiences since 1939! They’re sharing a special
    preview of their latest show, Bad Girls: The Musical, ahead of their full production in October. Expect
    catchy tunes and powerful performances from one of the region’s best amateur groups.
    This One’s For Frankie

    Get ready to dance and sing along with this nostalgic tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons! Featuring
    all the hits – from Sherry to Walk Like a Man. This step down memory lane will have you
    smiling and swaying to timeless classics.
    Military Wives Choir
    4.10pm
    Bringing warmth, harmony and heartfelt songs, the Military Wives Choir connects women from military
    communities through the power of music. Be inspired by their beautiful vocals and strong sense of togetherness.
    MUSICA Jukebox Band
    4.50pm

    Join MUSICA for an interactive musical experience with our Jukebox Band! The audience gets to choose songs from our extensive playlist via our mobile app, and then rate them live. The songs with the most votes will be performed right on stage, creating a unique and exciting atmosphere for everyone. 

    Stars of the West End (first set)

    Prepare to be amazed as four internationally acclaimed West End stars—Mike Sterling, Shona Lindsay, Patrick
    Smyth, and Jayne O’Mahony—take you on a thrilling musical journey through beloved classics like The Phantom of
    the Opera, and Evita. Their unforgettable performance builds to a powerful second act featuring iconic rock
    musical hits that will leave you wanting more!
    Danyl Johnson

    Reading’s very own Danyl Johnson shot to fame on The X Factor with his unforgettable audition, which racked up
    more than 50 million views on YouTube! Since then, he’s toured across Europe and the US, and is now part of the
    People’s Postcode Lottery team. He’ll be joined by dancers Urban Stylez, choreographed by Jenna Ellis, in a
    high-octane performance!
    Stars of the West End (second set)

    7.30pm

    Get ready for a high-energy second set from the Stars of the West End packed with electrifying rock musical anthems that promise to dazzle and delight!  Experience the magic of musical theatre as West End legends Mike Sterling, Shona Lindsay, Patrick Smyth, and Jayne O’Mahony bring their star power to the stage with show-stopping numbers from global favourites including Les MisĂ©rables, and Evita.
