Bracknell Forest Council and The Lexicon are delighted to announce the launch of new detailed accessibility guides and app for key destinations across the borough including the town centre, South Hill Park and Coral Reef.
Hosted on the AccessAble website and its newly launched app, the guides provide detailed information about accessibility including facts, figures and photographs.
Each guide has been created following a visit by an AccessAble surveyor to the various locations, to gather specific information about locations within the borough.
To complement the guides there is a handy free app available to download, where users can create a profile, save their favourites and set their own preferences using AccessAble’s accessibility symbols.
Timothy Wheadon, Chief Executive of Bracknell Forest Council, said: “The AccessAble guide is a really helpful tool, enabling people to get information on the go about accessible facilities at key locations in the borough, including The Lexicon. We want as many people as possible to enjoy all the wonderful leisure and retail facilities Bracknell Forest has to offer, so if you haven’t had a look already I’d urge you to visit the website or download the free app.”
In addition to the accessibility guide, The Lexicon is proud to offer two registered Changing Places facilities located in The Avenue car park at The Lexicon. Changing Places offers specialist toilet facilities for people with profound disabilities, or other conditions that mean they need extra support.”
Paul Johnston-Naylor, General Manager at The Lexicon, says: “Our aim is to make The Lexicon as accessible as possible to everyone. Resources such as AccessAble and Changing Places help make this aim a reality. We will be encouraging those retailers and restaurants, not already part of AccessAble, to work with the council to create additional individual shop guides.”
Originally established in 2002, and known as Disabled Go, today, AccessAble works with 100 different disability groups and is used by more than 1.5 million people every year
